Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente, approximately 8-10 minutes.

While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add sliced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté until garlic turns light golden brown, watching carefully to prevent burning. Remove from heat if garlic browns before pasta is ready.

Drain spaghetti, reserving 1/4 cup of pasta water. Transfer spaghetti to the saucepan with garlic oil. Add reserved pasta water and sauté over medium heat until water evaporates and pasta is coated evenly.

Taste and adjust seasoning with salt or additional red pepper flakes if desired. Garnish with chopped parsley and parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.
