Peppermint Oreo Balls (Printer-Friendly Version)

Soft Oreo balls flavored with peppermint and coated in smooth white chocolate for a festive treat.

# Ingredients Needed:

→ Cookies

01 - 27 regular Oreo cookies (avoid Double Stuf)

→ Dairy

02 - 85 grams (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened to room temperature

→ Flavorings

03 - 1 teaspoon peppermint extract

→ Coating

04 - 225 grams (8 ounces) white chocolate melting wafers
05 - 2 tablespoons crushed candy canes (optional)

# Step-by-Step Directions:

01 - Using a food processor or a rolling pin in a sealed plastic bag, finely crush the Oreo cookies until they reach a crumbly consistency.
02 - In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the crushed cookies with softened cream cheese and peppermint extract until evenly combined.
03 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a small cookie scoop, portion out the mixture and roll between your palms to form smooth, uniform balls. Arrange them on the prepared sheet.
04 - Place the tray in the freezer and let the balls firm up for 30 minutes.
05 - Melt white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring between, until completely smooth.
06 - Remove the chilled balls from the freezer. Using a fork, dip each ball into the melted white chocolate, allowing excess coating to drip off. Return to the parchment paper and immediately sprinkle with crushed candy canes if using.
07 - Refrigerate the coated balls for at least 15 minutes until the white chocolate hardens, then serve.

# Helpful Hints:

01 - The treats can be made a day in advance and stored refrigerated in an airtight container for up to three weeks.
02 - Work quickly when coating with chocolate and candy canes to prevent the chocolate from hardening prematurely.
